About Dominic

Content Creator, SID, Broadcaster - Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Previous: Lindenwood University, Class of 2022

BA in Broadcast Communications, minor in Journalism

Dominic Hoscher is in his third year at Southern Illinois in Carbondale, and serves as a Sports Information Director in its athletic department. In this role, Hoscher has gotten experience in creating video content such as new series, highlights, and intro videos, in photography and graphic design, and in broadcasting.

Hoscher has experience in calling: football, soccer, basketball, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, volleyball, and softball. However, his sports knowledge and versatility allows him the ability to call any event. 

Along with broadcasting, Hoscher has experience in creating video and photo content for Division I sports teams. At SIU, he has shot highlights, features, video series', and more for several social media platforms. Along with this, Hoscher has shot photos for photoshoots, games, and other events. As a part of his thesis for his Master's, Hoscher also filmed a "Day in the Life' documentary, taking fans into a day in the life of a Division I athlete or coach.

Hoscher also has an extensive background in sports writing. He's written about sports ever since his junior year of high school and has written everything from post-game recap articles to features on athletes. He's written for his schools as well as the St. Louis Post Dispatch during his time as a journalist.

Hoscher's focus is sports, but is open to any opportunity that comes up.

Winning a national championship: through the eyes of lacrosse players, coaches

No women’s lacrosse team to the west of the Mississippi River had won a national championship at any collegiate level entering 2021.

 

No Lindenwood team had won a national championship at the Division II level entering 2021. 

On Sunday, May 23, in Salem, Virginia, Lindenwood women’s lacrosse players wrote their names in the history books with a 14-12 win over Queens University (North Carolina) to win the program’s first-ever national championship.
